On July 4th to the 8th, Wang Jianhua, President of Zijin Mining Group Co.,Ltd (“Zijin”) and Fang Qixue, Vice President of Zijin paid a visit to Papua New Guinea. During the visit, Zijin held a press conference to help each all interested parties learn more about Zijin, and to clear up any misunderstandings and concerns about acquisition of Porgera project. The discussions were arranged to help deepen mutual trust between two parties. The visit plays a significant role in successful acquisition and smooth transition of Porgera project.
In Port Moresby, the capital of Papua New Guinea (PNG), President Wang Jianhua met with vernment leaders including the Director General and attorney general of Department of Mineral Resources of PNG. Also in attendance were the cooperative partners of the Porgera project including Executives of Mineral Resources Enga Limited, the vernor of Enga Province and representatives of landowners. A deep and thorough discussion was held. President Wang Jianhua gave a detailed introduction about development history, operation performance and development strategies of Zijin and the effort Zijin will make for the Porgera project in areas of environmental protection, safety, community relations and social responsibilities. Meanwhile, the Papua New Guinea party welcomed Zijin to come and invest in the PNG mineral resources industry and expressed that they would support Zijin and the further development of the Porgera ld mine.
During the Visit, President Wang held a press conference to discuss Zijin’s investment in the Porgera ld mine. Local news media including the National and The Business gave positive reports about this event. In addition, President Wang also held friendly talks with the management team of Porgera ld mine, representatives of landowners and the projects’ labor union.
