From April 8 to 12, Zijin Mining, a major global metals miner, partnered with Xiamen University to offer training on leadership skills for its 24 employees. These individuals are members of the company’s 6th Exceptional Young Talent Program selected from its headquarters and affiliates in 2023.
Experienced professors from various departments at Xiamen University were engaged to deliver the training. Tailored to real work scenarios, the curriculum covered a wide spectrum of management topics, including economics, leadership development, crisis management, and communication skills for managers. Through case studies and group discussions, the trainers turned abstract topics into digestible content, fostering active participation from members of the Program. The training culminated in presentations by each participant on how the five-day learning could be applied to their respective roles.
The annual program, designed by Zijin to nurture future managers, has seen notable success in recent years. A total of 211 professionals have been selected to 6 similar programs, with 51 currently assigned to the company’s overseas projects. More than half of the participants have since been promoted, highlighting the initiative’s effective role in accelerating the career advancement of young talent and enhancing their motivation.
