Zijin Mining Listed on Fortune Global 500 for Fifth Consecutive Year, Ranking Fourth by Profits Among Global Metals Miners
2025/07/31 6000

Zijin Mining, a leading global metals miner, has been named to the Fortune Global 500 list for the fifth year straight, ranking 365th by revenue in the 2025 edition released on July 29.

Driven by robust performance and strong growth momentum, the company further solidified its industry standing, placing 209th globally by profits, 4th among metals mining companies worldwide, and 1st among Chinese metals miners. Notably, Zijin Mining achieved the highest return on assets (ROA) in the global metals and mining sector.

Among metals miners on the list, Glencore led in revenue but reported a net loss, with a 138% year-on-year profit decline, while Shandong Gold, the only newcomer from China, capitalized on rising gold prices in 2024 to achieve substantial revenue growth.

Zijin’s financial strength was underscored by its top-tier return on equity (ROE), ranking 4th among all Chinese businesses on the list, only after Pinduoduo, TSMC, and Quanta Computer. Within Fujian Province, Zijin is one of the six local companies featured, ranking 3rd by profits alongside regional leaders Xiamen C&D, Xiamen ITG, XMXYG, Industrial Bank, and CATL.

China Dip and Global Leap

This year’s Fortune Global 500 includes 130 Chinese companies, down three from last year, once again placing China second behind the United States in the number of companies listed. This represents the lowest number of Chinese firms since 2019, with their total revenue declining by approximately 3% compared to last year.

According to Fortune, companies on the 2025 Fortune Global 500 generated a record-breaking US$41.7 trillion in aggregate revenue, more than one-third of global GDP and up 1.8% from last year, while total assets and equity among listed firms both reached record highs. Meanwhile, the minimum revenue required to qualify for the list has increased from US$32.1 billion to US$32.2 billion.
